Dr. Shannan Takhar, PharmD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at UCSF School of Pharmacy. A focus of her faculty appointment is experiential education. She is a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist, and practices in the UC Davis Health kidney transplant clinic, where she provides comprehensive medication management care to kidney transplant recipients. She received her PharmD from UCSF School of Pharmacy where she held leadership roles with the Educational Policy Committee among others, and was inducted in the Rho Chi Honors Society. She went on to complete her PGY1 and PGY2 residencies in ambulatory care at UC Davis Health. At the completion of her PGY2 residency, she was recognized as Resident of the Year.
Prior to joining UCSF School of Pharmacy, Dr. Takhar worked as a clinical pharmacist in the area of specialty pharmacy at UC Davis Health. Initially, her focus was pulmonology specialty pharmacy, including cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, and a special emphasis on launching pulmonary hypertension specialty pharmacy services. Later, Dr. Takhar accepted a new position supporting the ambulatory care solid organ transplant team, while continuing her leadership in the area of pulmonary hypertension.
Her current research focusses include educational research, as well as clinical research in the areas of solid organ transplant, ambulatory care practice, and specialty pharmacy.
