A preceptor for the OhioHealth pharmacy residency programs, Sara J(ordan) Hyland has been a clinical pharmacist and practice-based researcher at Grant Medical Center since completing her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency there in 2012. She has demonstrated dedication to research at all levels of her training and career, from placing at Ohio State University's Denman Undergraduate Research forum with a medicinal chemistry “bench” research project (for which she also earned Graduation with Honors and Distinction), to mentored research projects during her pharmacy internship and residency, to serving as Principal Investigator for a prospective, randomized, controlled trial in an orthopedic surgery population. Additionally, she is committed to scholarship and professional service through perennial podium and poster presentations on various topics, publications in medical journals, and active professional organization involvement. These have included 14 peer-review publications and more than 30 state- or national-level presentations. She oversees the entire research process for Grant Medical Center's pharmacy residents in addition to pursuing interprofessional research in her own practice, mentoring nurse anesthetist doctoral candidates on thesis research projects, and facilitating a research internship for medical students. Sara was recognized for her efforts by the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacy Practice Research Award in 2021. Her current clinical roles include being a senior member of the Perioperative Care and Emergency Medicine clinical teams at Grant Medical Center.
