Tara Storjohann is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy-Glendale in Glendale, Arizona. Dr. Storjohann graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2001 with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Upon graduation, she completed a Geriatric Specialty Residency at the VA Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her initial academic appointment was at Midwestern University from 2002-2004 where she specialized in hyperlipidemia management and geriatrics. Dr. Storjohann re-joined the faculty in 2009 and is the course director of a year-long required course series entitled Professional Skills Development. This course, running in parallel with a team-taught longitudinal therapeutics course, integrates curricular content from both current and previous therapeutic topics using a variety of teaching methods with an emphasis on active learning. Advanced skills including chart documentation, case studies, OSCEs, simulations, and verbal presentations are practiced in order to prepare students for their advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs) and for professional practice. Dr. Storjohann is a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist and a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. She has practice experience in academia, ambulatory care, and retail pharmacy. Her research interests include innovative educational methods that incorporate active learning, preceptor training and development, and geriatrics.
