Daniel Yarabinec III, PharmD, MSHI, BCPS, practices as a pharmacist on the Information Technology team at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Hillman Cancer Center, which builds, maintains, and supports the outpatient oncology electronic health record (e.g. medication entries and screenings, standard of care and clinical trial order sets, and more). He received both his PharmD and Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) degrees from the Univeristy of Pittsburgh, and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with UPMC Presbyterian. As a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), Dan's combined interests in clinical patient care and informatics center around incorporating best practices in EHR workflows to assist in the deployment of safe and effective evidence-based care. With pharmacy informatics as a growing field, he is committed to developing experiences for student pharmacists that highlight and give exposure to this unique and developing area of practice. Dan serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmacy & Therapeutics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He is a member of ASHP, Phi Lambda Sigma, and is the President of the Pittsburgh Graduate Chapter of Kappa Psi. Recently, he served on a Pharmacy Informatics Job Analysis Panel with the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), which is conducting the evaluation process for a possible new specialty credential in this field.
