Clinical Associate Professor/Director of Preceptor Development

Charlene Williams, PharmD, BCACP, CDCES is a clinical associate professor and Director of Preceptor Development with the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and completed an ASHP-accredited specialty residency in primary care at Mission Hospital and the Mountain Area Health Education Center. She has experience as a residency director and as a student and resident preceptor and has started clinical pharmacy services at several ambulatory care sites. She is a Certified Intrinsic Coach. Her research interests include experiential education, leadership education, and preceptor development. She is a recipient of the American Pharmacists Association One-to-One Patient Counseling award and the National Kappa Epsilon Career Achievement Award. She is a member of ASHP and has served on the Education Steering Committee, the Section Advisory Group (SAG) for the Development of the Educational Workforce, the SAG on Preceptor Skills Development, and the SAG on Compensation and Practice Sustainability. Additionally, she has served on AACP’s Experiential Education Scholarship Committee and Council of Faculties Preceptor Development and Engagement Task Force. She is a member of North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP). She has previously served on NCAP’s Western North Carolina Outpatient Pharmacy Partners (WNCOPP) advisory committee and NCAP’s Provider Status Task Force.
